Personalized Poker Chips Make Great Gifts! (1)As the holidays approach, gift giving becomes ever more present on people’s minds (no pun intended). Particularly hard are those who have hobbies that may not be your own. For instance, poker playing. Even if you enjoy the occasional game, you might know a die-hard player who wishes to take his or her Poker Night to the proverbial “next level”. Well, one excellent idea, more over than fancy professional packs of poker cards, or perhaps a green felt dealing table, might be a set of personalized poker chips. Why? Read on! First, by their very nature, personalized poker chips are, in a word, personalized! They are unique to the person receiving the gift, which will add an extra dimension to the gift, and increase the degree of thoughtfulness that you put into it. Of course, you’ll want to take care to show some creativity and ingenuity in this, least it looks like a cheesy or kitschy bit of cheap, generic monogramming. In other words, don’t just get chips printed up with an inscription that reads “John’s Poker Chips”, or some such thing. Then it will merely look like a novelty, and little more. Something a little more elegant or perhaps stately is in order. For instance, perhaps “John”, or whatever the name of the person in question, might have a regular poker night that he or she enjoys with his or her friends. Instead of simply being “Poker at John’s (or Kim’s or whathaveyou)”, they might call themselves the “Texas Holders” or the “Saturday Night Regulars” or some such compelling name. Well, that might be much more significant a monogram on the chips than something that looks “phoned in”, so to speak. Or, perhaps, how about “Kim’s Poker Hall” or “John’s Casino”, or something along those lines that’s more evocative? That is sure to make a greater impact, and imbue the personalized poker chips with more personality and more perceived value. Now, this, of course, is not to say that you can’t have fun with this, perhaps even customizing them in a playful manner. Perhaps a nickname, or an inside joke between the two of you, or the two of you and other close friends, might just be the ticket. But, either way, make it evident that you put thought into it. In Part 2, we'll discuss some of the practical terms in bringing these lovely chips into reality.
